I was so excited when Jeanette asked me to assist her at a Steampunk wedding in Kaapsehoop in Mpumalanga. This wedding was a photographers dream, when we drove up the hill to the little town – the weather was miserable it was drizzling and misty however this suited the theme of the wedding perfectly.
The detail that went into this wedding was unbelievable – Bonita’s mom made her dress and all the accessories – the watch brooches the cuff links – everything! What a star. A lot of watches were used and all of them were set for 3 o’clock on the 13th – the attention to detail was unbelievable.
I loved that we could walk around the town during the couple photos. This couple were fun and spontaneous with Bontita posing for a taxi driver who wanted to take her photo. Their guests dressed up as well allowing for a magical day filled with props and laughter. It was a lovely day and the theme fitted the couple so well.
Thank you Jeanette, Bonita and Ross for a wonderful, magical day.
The mist rolling in.
These lamp fixtures were hand made by the brides father with 1.7m of copper piping used for each one. I think they are the most incredible inventions. So creative and completed the theme.
Bonita designed these name places (along with the rest of the decor) – every single person had a different description on theirs. Mine said Lauren – Visual Archivist.
This photo is such a moment photo. When Ross saw his Nanny/Maid who he grew up with – he gave her the biggest hug. It was such a special moment shared between two people.
Bonita’s dress turned into a minnie before the recepetion.
