We borrowed a brochure of things to do in the Midlands from the owner of our accommodation and on the cover was a very impressive monument of Nelson Mandela. When I read up on it I discovered that it was jut down the road from where we are staying. This monument is on the road where Nelson Mandela was eventually captured and then subsequently sent to Robbin Island. He was posing as a chauffeur to try avoid being captured after being on the run for 18 months.
This monument/ statue is amazing – it is a series of metal poles that are placed at different depths. You can only see the face of Mandela if you stand in a certain place.
