Cherry Kitchen Tea, Lifestyle Johannesburg Photographer, Johannesburg Event Photographer, Beautiful Simple Kitchen Tea

On Saturday the 8th of September it was my very special friends Kitchen Tea. I am one of her bridesmaids and I am so excited for her wedding on the 23rd of September (only 2 weeks to go ¬†ūüôā ) We held her Kitchen Tea at Munch in Ferndale. Thank you to the team there for being so amazing with the service and the yummy food. We had a wonderful afternoon filled with lots of laughter and great memories. We organised a “quiz” for Cherry – including questions on her Fiance, housewife questions, coffee tasting,¬†culinary¬†skills, spice tasting and identifying some gorgeous men. Every time she got a question wrong we...

The sun sets in the most perfect location here at Kwalala Lodge. Over the bay. There are LOTS of locals in their dug out boats who fish for a living. Caught this as this fisherman was paddling home.  ...

Personal – Whale Watching | Nacala

Whale Watching, Kayak Whale, Nacala Mozambique, Kwalala Lodge, Amazing Whale Experience, Humpback Whales, Up close and personal

I am currently staying in beautiful Nacala, in north Mozambique. While here, I am doing a Location Shoot for Kwalala Lodge, a diving lodge on the beach front north of town. Yesterday afternoon, along with seven others, I went kayaking in the bay, where humpback whales are currently living as they raise their calves and feed on the abundant plankton. We can see the whales on occasion from the lodge deck, but can never predict when or where we will spot them. One of the men in our kayak group had a waterproof Olympus camera which he kindly lent to me. I haven’t used a “point and click” for ages...

Family – Zoo Lake Adventure

Very early (7am) on Thursday morning I met the Louren’s family at Zoo Lake in Parktown. Even though it was incredibly early everybody was full of excitement and this made for fun morning. This beautiful family of 3 had flown out from Boston (USA) for a family wedding. While they were out in South Africa they wanted photographs to capture their special family. The little girl,¬†Katherine is ¬†very¬†inquisitive¬†1 year old – she was full of energy and wanted to explore every aspect of Zoo Lake. She is a beautiful little girl and is bound to be a heart breaker when shes older with those breath taking blue eyes.We had a...

Elephant Eye Photograph, Elephant eyelashes, African Elephant, South African photographer

Last night was incredible – we had a family of Elephants come down to the fence at the camp we are staying at. There were about 15 of them 2m away (including babies and teenagers) I could not resist the opportunity to take photos of them when they were so close (I had a bit of dutch courage with a small electric fence being all that separated me from these huge beasts)  ...

So I have decided that i am going to try take some cool bird pictures this week. We are off to the Kruger Park tomorrow and by trying to photograph the birds I am hoping to take more of an interest in them and become a “twitcher” – watch this space.   Here is the first one…     Thanks Ross ūüôā...

Family Shoot – Guilherme Family

Thandi won my competition that I held a few months back when I launched my new website. She has the most beautiful little 2 year old boy called Rogan (he is¬†definitely¬†going to be a heart breaker when he is older) and she used the shoot to capture her very special family. They wanted to do the family shoot in Autumn when the trees are full of bright warm colours – so we headed off to Delta Park in Parkhurst where there was a gorgeous big tree filled with red leaves. This shoot was great fun – throwing leaves and running around ūüôā ¬†I love how the photographs came out –...

Personal – Reflections in the Park | Delta Park

Yesterday Ross and I went for a walk in Delta Park (in case you haven’t noticed – I LOVE that park!) It was a beautiful evening – not a breath of wind. The lack of wind made beautiful reflections in the river. I found it quite funny how nature makes man made¬†monstrosity’s¬†looks pretty. Some of the photos hurt my brain as you don’t know which way is up?!   The mist as the sun goes down and the temperature drops...

Event – St. Stithians Matric Dance | Bryanston

There is something so exciting about a matric dance. The men looking handsome in their tailored suits and shiny shoes and the girls looking breathtaking in their dresses with their hair and makeup done immaculately. It is so different from any other fancy dress up event, there is an energy and excitement that no other event has. I love seeing the girls dresses. I was asked to take photographs of the couples at their predrinks before they left for the Matric Dance at St. Stithians. These were a great bunch of boys РI was very impressed to see how well they looked after their dates during the evening but still...

Personal – The Fat Olive Market

Today we went to a new market in Muldersdrift area called The Fat Olive Market. It is held at the Fat Olive restaurant. There is a beautiful fountain in the courtyard of the restaurant and there are stalls all around this courtyard. There were a few stalls including Lime Green Bean and Balm Balm. They also sold the most amazing fresh bread (Thanks to Jenty for telling us about it :-)) – we bought the rosemary and coarse salt bread and have been eating it all day....

Shiitake Mushrooms, Food Photography, Johannesburg Lifestyle photographer, Photograph, South African Photographer

The last few photos have had a bit of a theme (it wasn’t intentional yet I have decided to continue it for the week) – if you not sure what i am talking about – the them is Food. Today I made mushroom risotto for dinner – yummy. Even though winter can be cold and depressing its really nice to change the kind of food you eat. I am excited to make things like stews, soup and more types of comfort food. I used Shiitake Mushrooms for this risotto – it was yummy ūüôā...
