Couple – Warren & Kelly | Braamfontein

Kelly was given a voucher for a photo shoot from her friends for her birthday 🙂 (What a lovely idea). Unfortunately before she could use it I moved to Cape Town. As fate would have it though I was planning a trip to JHB for other photoshoots and we could schedule a shoot with her and her wonderful boyfriend Warren on Sunday afternoon. I love Johannesburg CBD – the energy, architecture, graffiti and the eclectic mix of old and new make for wonderful photo opportunities. Warren and Kelly are the most wonderful couple – their adoration for each other is just incredible to witness. It was such a joy to be...

Couple – Jeffery & Natasha | JHB CBD

A while ago I ran a competition through Lauren Kim Photography to win a free couple Photoshoot. All the entrants needed to do was submit their idea of their ideal Photoshoot with their partner. The winners of the competition were Tasha and Jeffery. Their idea was to use their hobbies in the Photoshoot. Their hobbies were Parkor and Yoga and they used each other to create amazing body positions using their strength and flexibility. This was going to be a Photoshoot to remember. We met on Saturday morning, very early at 7am on top of Constitution Hill in Johannesburg. The couple are moving to Amsterdam in the next month and...

Couple – Robert and Jessica | Maboneng

Jess and I met at school in Nelspruit – I had moved at 16 from JHB to Nelspruit and I was very unhappy with the move. I was crying in the car park and outside the assembly hall when this beautiful girl came up to me and spoke to me and gave me a hug and told me that it would all be ok. Her kindness, empathy and sincerity shone through her and without her I would not have walked into that assembly hall – I guess you can say she was my first friend. Jess has the most incredible soul and spirit! I was so excited when she asked...

Event – Balkan Burger | Neighbour Goods Market

I am doing a series of photo shoots for Balkan Burger – if you missed the first one click here. Balkan Burger are at Neighbour Goods Market every Saturday selling their succulent burgers to the masses (and I mean masses – they are so popular and everyone wants their burgers). This Saturday why not go down to the Market and grab a burger (Hot or Not) and enjoy the festivites. You will find Balkan Burger in the left hand corner – trust me you will not be disappointed....

Travel – Arts on Main | Maboneng District

Things to do in Jhb, Jozi, Lifestyle, Event, Market, photographer, Photo

Ross and I received an amazing book for our 1st wedding anniversary from his parents called Johannesburg Spaces and Places. It is such a lovely book telling you where all the restaurants, markets etc are and things to do in Jozi. I love it. We are trying to work our way through the book and explore our city. 2 Weeks ago we went to Arts on Main in the Maboneng Precinct. I LOVE markets – they are my soul food. There is nothing I like more than drinking hot coffee while walking around tasting and buying home made delicious food. The Maboneng precint has been revamped and it is full...

Family – Fusgen | Zoo Lake

Johannesburg, Natural, Outdoor, Family, Photo, Photographer, Parktown, Rosebank, photographer

Last weekend Imke sent me an email asking me to do a surprise birthday family shoot for her husband at Zoo Lake. This special family have all recently immigrated from Germany to live in South Africa (it always makes me happy when people are coming into South Africa – apposed to leaving it). We started off the shoot with 4 month old little Max – he was such an incredibly behaved little guy who smiled and played along so beautifully. Imke had set out clothes and directions on the bed for her husband so he would know where to go when he got home from work – I am a...

Corporate – Shayna Elcott | The Wedding Emporium

2 weeks ago Shayna asked me to take some professional photographs for her to use in professional area’s such as her CV and presentations. I jumped at the chance as this dynamic woman is incredible at what she does. She currently works for the Wedding Emporium who organise the most spectacular weddings. We took the photos in Craighall Park in the early morning. I love the two different looks we got with the outfits and the scenery. Thank you Shayna for being such a warm, kind and compassionate person – I had a wonderful time working with you.  ...

Personal – Coffee Tasting | Bean There

44 Stanley Avenue, Things to do, Photo, Date Night Ideas, Gauteng, Event, Photographer

Last night was date night for Ross and I – on New Years day in 2011 we decided to have one date night a week where we would do different things. We have managed to maintain this tradition 🙂 I love a good deal and when I saw this coffee event on Citymob – I bought it immediately. It was a “Coffee Cupping” event at Bean There in 44 Stanley Avenue. I had no idea what “Coffee Cupping” meant but I decided if it had to do with coffee it was good for me 😉 We had a lovely dinner under the trees at 44 Stanley Avenue at the restaurant...

Wedding – Suvashna and Deepak | Hyatt Rosebank

Bride and groom, couple photo, hindu wedding, outfit, Johannesburg photographer, South Africa, beautiful photos

Finally the day arrived – Suvashna and Deepak’s wedding day. They got married at the beautiful and elegant Hyatt hotel, in Rosebank. Su looked absolutely breathtaking in her red bridal outfit and Deepak very handsome in his traditional regalia, fully equipped down to the “Aladdin” shoes! It was amazing to see how both families were so involved in all of the ceremonies. I love this symbolism of unity as a marriage is also the joining of two families, not only the bride and groom. I am so glad that the weather behaved itself on the day, as part of the ceremony included the traditional lighting of a fire. I am...

9 December 2012

Pink Velvet Cake, Picnic, Event Photographer, Johannesburg, Party, Birthday, Photo

I had a birthday picnic to celebrate my birthday yesterday. It started off as a lovely day – we were all lazing about and then the sky darkened. Eventually it looked too scary that we packed up and headed to the car 🙁 Just in time though. Wow as we drove out the parking lot the heavens opened and mother nature reminded us she is boss. There was SO much hail! Wow!!! My garden (the one I have been working so hard on) is just a bunch of sticks with no leaves....

24 September 2012

Rain Drops, Leaf, Black and white

SO upset – I had 4 photoshoots booked today and had to cancel ALL of them due to the horrible rain 🙁 It was a lonely day after what would have been a really busy day. Oh well one thing you cant control is the weather....

Family – The Humphries | Delta Park

Delta Park, Family, Photoshoot, Blue Eyed Boy, Natural, Spontaneous, Johannesburg, Photographer

Yesterday afternoon I met Carolyn and Bruce and their beautiful little blue eyed boy Michael at Delta Park to take some family photos before Christmas. We were originally planning on taking the photos on Saturday but due to the rain we decided to reschedule and I am so glad that we did. The weather was glorious and definitely think the photos are much nicer being outside in the summer sun playing in the grass and on the colourful jungle gym. When we arrived we coincidentally bumped into Michaels’ favourite aunt and cousin who were great at distracting him and making him smile for photos 🙂 Thank you to all for a...

Location – Burnside Restaurant | Craighall

Best Restaurant, Craighall, Johannesburg, Outdoor, Northern Suburbs, Country, Photo, Food, Photographer, Magazine, Freelance

Hubby and I love trying different and unique places in Jo’burg. Whether its coffee shops, restaurants, markets or galleries, our city has so much to offer if you are just willing to look! One of these gems is Burnside Cafe, a restaurant in Craighall, on Burnside Avenue. Being in a revamp of the property’s original house, you sit out on the almost “farmstyle” verandah, where you can take in the view of a perfectly manicured garden while enjoying their diverse selection of meals and confectionery. After you’ve had your fill you can take an amble through their small, but well stocked, art gallery which promotes local artists. Burnside is a...

Couple – Luke and Alisje | Delta Park

Engagement Shoot, Nature, Fun Johannesburg, Photographer, Dandelions, Northern Suburbs

On Friday I did a beautiful photoshoot with Alisje and Luke in Delta Park. When I met them they were adamant that the photos were taken outside so that I captured them in nature. These high school sweethearts love being outdoors (Luke proposed in the middle of the Kruger Park while on a picnic – he had organised the ranger and everything!) These two told me they were shy in front of the camera… Please! Within 10 minutes of starting the photoshoot they were up the tree for photos 🙂 I loved it! We found some dandelions and had great fun blowing each one. I saw a beautiful quote the...

Wedding – Clinton and Angi | Moon and Sixpence

On Saturday I assisted Jeanette Verster at a wedding at Moon and Sixpence in Muldersdrift. Clinton and Angi are from South Africa but now live in the States. They got married last year in the States however they wanted to have a celebration with all their family and friends back home in South Africa. They combined their wedding celebrations with a dedication to their beautiful little boy. It was a lovely addition to have this gorgeous little boy part of the ceremony. It was pretty cold but a photographers dream with beautiful, moody, cloudy sky’s and gorgeous light. Angi and Clinton were so relaxed and they laughed and smiled all day...
