Maternity – Quentin and Taryn with their dogs

Taryn Quentin, Baby Bump, Walkhaven, Maternity, Johannesburg Photographer, Natural, Dog, Outdoor, Photo

On Saturday afternoon I met Taryn, Quentin, Ninja and Champ at Walkhaven dog park. I had never been there before but this amazing couple wanted their whole family captured (including their two beautiful black pugs – Champ and Ninja).Whenever people want to bring their dogs on shoots I get very excited as it adds an energy to photos. Walkhaven is a lovely little area with two dams and open grasslands to walk around. I always love going to new places – It gets the creative juices flowing. This couple/ parents to be were so relaxed – I loved working with them, nothing phased them they were so content in themselves and...

Family – Zoo Lake Adventure

Very early (7am) on Thursday morning I met the Louren’s family at Zoo Lake in Parktown. Even though it was incredibly early everybody was full of excitement and this made for fun morning. This beautiful family of 3 had flown out from Boston (USA) for a family wedding. While they were out in South Africa they wanted photographs to capture their special family. The little girl, Katherine is  very inquisitive 1 year old – she was full of energy and wanted to explore every aspect of Zoo Lake. She is a beautiful little girl and is bound to be a heart breaker when shes older with those breath taking blue eyes.We had a...

Cress Heads, Eggshell Planter, Cress Seeds, Kids Activities

I had never heard of these before and apparently you make these as kids – I never did but I LOVE them as an adult. They are called Cress Heads. I cant wait til they grow longer and then the theory is that you draw faces on the egg shell so that the Cress looks like hair.  ...

We have an ornamental Pomegranate tree in our garden. In short these are just baby Pomegranates. I have tried to eat them but they are so sour and not at all like the real thing – which I love. I believe that they are natures sweets. Our ones are all dried and dehydrated now at the end of winter however I found this one which had cracked open and still had the vibrant red seeds inside.  ...

Gautrain Rail, Gautrain Route, Railway Tracks, Train View, Train Cables

Today I caught the Gautrain to Pretoria to meet up with special family for a birthday celebration. I love the Gautrain – its such an amazing achievement for Johannesburg and South Africa. The staff are friendly, the train is punctual and everything works so well. I love speeding past the highway watching everyone in their car when they could be in the train relaxing – not worrying about traffic. If you havent experience the beauty of this new addition to the South African family – you MUST!!!  ...

Wedding – River Place | Hartbeespoort

River Place Hartbeespoort, River Wedding Venue, Johannesburg Wedding Photographer, Nelspruit Wedding Photographer, South African Wedding Photographer, Natural Outdoor wedding photo Johannesburg, Muldersdrift wedding photographer

A while back I 2nd shot with the lovely Elandre at River Place in Hartbeespoort. This venue is on the banks of the Hennops River which made for a lovely outdoor wedding for Edmund and Delaine. There were great little details including a spectacular cheese cake that a family member made for them, a green Jeep which brought the bride to the ceremony and fun gumboots. I thoroughly enjoy the day and I wish you both a lifetime of happiness. Thanks Elandre 🙂 I loved this part of the ceremony – the parents and grandparents blessed the couples rings individually. Edmund wrote, played and sang a song to his new...

Personal – Love and Revolution | Melville

We were given an amazing book – “Spaces and Places Johannesburg”. It has all the great spots to see in JHB – restaurants, markets, parks etc. If you live in Johannesburg do yourself a favour and buy this book. Ross and I have decided we want to try do as many things as possible in this book. On Saturday we went to a a very quaint coffee shop on 7th Avenue – Melville called Love and Revolution. It had lovely coffee, a yummy squishy chocolate cake (as the owner called it) plus free Wi-Fi if you are interested. We then went to a tiny little organic market on top of...

Family Shoot – Guilherme Family

Thandi won my competition that I held a few months back when I launched my new website. She has the most beautiful little 2 year old boy called Rogan (he is definitely going to be a heart breaker when he is older) and she used the shoot to capture her very special family. They wanted to do the family shoot in Autumn when the trees are full of bright warm colours – so we headed off to Delta Park in Parkhurst where there was a gorgeous big tree filled with red leaves. This shoot was great fun – throwing leaves and running around 🙂  I love how the photographs came out –...

Personal – Reflections in the Park | Delta Park

Yesterday Ross and I went for a walk in Delta Park (in case you haven’t noticed – I LOVE that park!) It was a beautiful evening – not a breath of wind. The lack of wind made beautiful reflections in the river. I found it quite funny how nature makes man made monstrosity’s looks pretty. Some of the photos hurt my brain as you don’t know which way is up?!   The mist as the sun goes down and the temperature drops...

Blackjacks are the most bizarre plant. They do not look pretty nor do they smell nice yet they are highly effective in making sure that they annoy you by sticking to EVERYTHING!!!...

Event – St. Stithians Matric Dance | Bryanston

There is something so exciting about a matric dance. The men looking handsome in their tailored suits and shiny shoes and the girls looking breathtaking in their dresses with their hair and makeup done immaculately. It is so different from any other fancy dress up event, there is an energy and excitement that no other event has. I love seeing the girls dresses. I was asked to take photographs of the couples at their predrinks before they left for the Matric Dance at St. Stithians. These were a great bunch of boys – I was very impressed to see how well they looked after their dates during the evening but still...
