Personal – Ek Se Tour | Soweto

Orlando Towers, Bungee Jump, Soweto, To do, Photo, photographer, Holiday

A while ago my sister in law who works for The Awethu Project asked me to come with her on a Soweto tour run by Ek Se Tours. I love living in South Africa it has a large and diverse history especially in Johannesburg. This was an amazing tour covering Constitution hill, Orlando Towers, Kliptown, Vilikazi. Sometimes there’s so much to see and do, right on your doorstep in Jozi! I recently went on a tour of Soweto, organised and run by a local entrepreneur. Lesika customs every tour to suit the group he’s guiding, whether they’re interested in sport, arts or history… there’s so much  for tourists to learn...

Event – Cherry’s Kitchen Tea |Randburg

Cherry Kitchen Tea, Lifestyle Johannesburg Photographer, Johannesburg Event Photographer, Beautiful Simple Kitchen Tea

On Saturday the 8th of September it was my very special friends Kitchen Tea. I am one of her bridesmaids and I am so excited for her wedding on the 23rd of September (only 2 weeks to go  🙂 ) We held her Kitchen Tea at Munch in Ferndale. Thank you to the team there for being so amazing with the service and the yummy food. We had a wonderful afternoon filled with lots of laughter and great memories. We organised a “quiz” for Cherry – including questions on her Fiance, housewife questions, coffee tasting, culinary skills, spice tasting and identifying some gorgeous men. Every time she got a question wrong we...

Personal – SNOW | Johannesburg

Boots in Snow, Snow Garden, Johannesburg Snow 7 August 2012, Snow Flakes, South Africa Snow

Today I felt like an 8 year old – running around in the snow – loving life! I have never seen snow before and the lovely white stuff that came from the sky just made me so excited. I was at The Village and the kids were having as much fun as I was. I never thought I would see this quantity of snow in JHB ever!!! Here are some photos from the beautiful (yet Freezing) day today. This little girl was so excited to see the snow – look at her gloves (that’s what a hurry she was in) She couldn’t decide if she was happy or scared about...

Personal – Love and Revolution | Melville

We were given an amazing book – “Spaces and Places Johannesburg”. It has all the great spots to see in JHB – restaurants, markets, parks etc. If you live in Johannesburg do yourself a favour and buy this book. Ross and I have decided we want to try do as many things as possible in this book. On Saturday we went to a a very quaint coffee shop on 7th Avenue – Melville called Love and Revolution. It had lovely coffee, a yummy squishy chocolate cake (as the owner called it) plus free Wi-Fi if you are interested. We then went to a tiny little organic market on top of...

Family Shoot – Guilherme Family

Thandi won my competition that I held a few months back when I launched my new website. She has the most beautiful little 2 year old boy called Rogan (he is definitely going to be a heart breaker when he is older) and she used the shoot to capture her very special family. They wanted to do the family shoot in Autumn when the trees are full of bright warm colours – so we headed off to Delta Park in Parkhurst where there was a gorgeous big tree filled with red leaves. This shoot was great fun – throwing leaves and running around 🙂  I love how the photographs came out –...

Personal – Reflections in the Park | Delta Park

Yesterday Ross and I went for a walk in Delta Park (in case you haven’t noticed – I LOVE that park!) It was a beautiful evening – not a breath of wind. The lack of wind made beautiful reflections in the river. I found it quite funny how nature makes man made monstrosity’s looks pretty. Some of the photos hurt my brain as you don’t know which way is up?!   The mist as the sun goes down and the temperature drops...

Blackjacks are the most bizarre plant. They do not look pretty nor do they smell nice yet they are highly effective in making sure that they annoy you by sticking to EVERYTHING!!!...

Event – St. Stithians Matric Dance | Bryanston

There is something so exciting about a matric dance. The men looking handsome in their tailored suits and shiny shoes and the girls looking breathtaking in their dresses with their hair and makeup done immaculately. It is so different from any other fancy dress up event, there is an energy and excitement that no other event has. I love seeing the girls dresses. I was asked to take photographs of the couples at their predrinks before they left for the Matric Dance at St. Stithians. These were a great bunch of boys – I was very impressed to see how well they looked after their dates during the evening but still...

Personal – The Fat Olive Market

Today we went to a new market in Muldersdrift area called The Fat Olive Market. It is held at the Fat Olive restaurant. There is a beautiful fountain in the courtyard of the restaurant and there are stalls all around this courtyard. There were a few stalls including Lime Green Bean and Balm Balm. They also sold the most amazing fresh bread (Thanks to Jenty for telling us about it :-)) – we bought the rosemary and coarse salt bread and have been eating it all day....

The last few photos have had a bit of a theme (it wasn’t intentional yet I have decided to continue it for the week) – if you not sure what i am talking about – the them is Food. Today I made mushroom risotto for dinner – yummy. Even though winter can be cold and depressing its really nice to change the kind of food you eat. I am excited to make things like stews, soup and more types of comfort food. I used Shiitake Mushrooms for this risotto – it was yummy 🙂...
