Last night my husband and I went to Wolves Cafe in Illovo to join a whole lot of budding artists in helping the group who organise A night of 1000 drawings. This concept is incredible – the concept is that members of the public draw anything on anything with anything (as long as it is A5 in size) and submit it to 1000 drawings. Then there is an exhibition where the artworks are sold for R100 each (regardless if you are Da Vinci or a child at school). All the money that is made at the exhibition goes to charity.
I first heard about 1000 drawings last year after their first exhibition and everyone was raving about it – I was really upset when I missed it. 2 weeks ago we attended the WAM after hours party where 1000 drawings had a bunch of tables and art products for everyone to draw and create. I ended up speaking to one of the members of the team and volunteered my services to capture the events leading up to the main exhibition as well as the exhibition itself. Last night was one of those events 🙂
I cannot wait for the main exhibition which is being held at Sci Bono this year. If you want to participate in this amazing concept – create an A5 artwork and drop it off at the art boxes at Wolves, Motherland Coffee and Warm and Glad to name a few.
My picture for the night 🙂
