Yesterday afternoon Ross and I went into town to join the team from 1000 Drawings and lots of budding artists to draw some more pieces of work for the exhibition. This doodle session was held on the rooftop of a building on the corner of Jeppe and Joubert Street . I am always excited to explore our home city – this was no exception, I had never been to this area so on top of being apart of the doodle session I got to see a new part of Jozi. It was a small doodle session however not lacking enthusiasm.
When we arrived there were a bunch of children playing soccer on the roof top. These children were eventually absorbed in paper and colourful pens and crayons drawing their pictures – it was heart warming to see these children getting so excited about drawing pictures and being involved with us. After all some of the money raised by 1000 Drawings will be directed towards helping children.
“Every child is an artist, the problem is staying an artist when you grow up”
Another highlight of the day was standing on the roof top watching the bustle of JHB city centre on a Sunday afternoon. It was an incredible to look at the dynamics of one street corner.

The picture below makes me laugh – look at the sign next to the vendor.
This was my doodle for the day and the image that inspired me
