Food – Apple Crumble

Apple crumble is wonderful comfort food. The tartness of the granny smith apples with the sweetness of the crumble is the perfect combination to heal any wounds and any blues. This is the easiest desert and always a winner at a dinner party. Try it out.

INGREDIENTS

10 Granny Smith Apples (peeled cored and cut into eighths)
2 Tablespoons of lemon juice
1 Teaspoon Cinnamon
25ml Light Brown Sugar
25ml Raisins
1 Cup of Flour
1/2 Cup of Brown Sugar
90g Butter (cubed)

METHOD

1. Place the apples and lemon juice in a pot and cook for 5 minutes with the lid on
2. Place the flour and brown sugar in a bowl and mix well
3. Add the butter to flour mixture and rub the butter until a crumble mixture is formed
4. Put the apples in a pie dish sprinkle with the light brown sugar and raisins. Pour the crumble mixture over the mixture
5. Bake at 200C for 30 minutes
6. Serve with custard and cream
