Personal – Date Night | Delta Park

Sitting on a bench, Takkies, Date Night

For our new years resolution in 2011 we decided that every week we will have a Date Night and we have kept our resolution going strong. We settled on Wednesday nights – when Ross is in town we always make sure we have it. It is such a great way to spend some quality time together. It doesnt have to be expensive or fancy every time, today was one of the best ones. We went for a walk in Delta Park where we found a bench under a tree and sat down (my feet not touching the floor) – we got a bit bored and found some “helicopter” pods –...

Personal – A puppy named Troy | Nelspruit

Labrador Puppy Photograph, Golden Labrador, Pet Photography, Johannesburg Animal Photographer, Cute Puppy

Yesterday my husband and I drove to Nelspruit to join my family for a birthday celebration. We also had another present for friends of ours – the most gorgeous puppy – an 8 week old Labrador puppy named Troy. He is the cutest thing and I really struggled to give him to his new family. How adorable is he??...

Personal – Whale Watching | Nacala

Whale Watching, Kayak Whale, Nacala Mozambique, Kwalala Lodge, Amazing Whale Experience, Humpback Whales, Up close and personal

I am currently staying in beautiful Nacala, in north Mozambique. While here, I am doing a Location Shoot for Kwalala Lodge, a diving lodge on the beach front north of town. Yesterday afternoon, along with seven others, I went kayaking in the bay, where humpback whales are currently living as they raise their calves and feed on the abundant plankton. We can see the whales on occasion from the lodge deck, but can never predict when or where we will spot them. One of the men in our kayak group had a waterproof Olympus camera which he kindly lent to me. I haven’t used a “point and click” for ages...

Personal – SNOW | Johannesburg

Boots in Snow, Snow Garden, Johannesburg Snow 7 August 2012, Snow Flakes, South Africa Snow

Today I felt like an 8 year old – running around in the snow – loving life! I have never seen snow before and the lovely white stuff that came from the sky just made me so excited. I was at The Village and the kids were having as much fun as I was. I never thought I would see this quantity of snow in JHB ever!!! Here are some photos from the beautiful (yet Freezing) day today. This little girl was so excited to see the snow – look at her gloves (that’s what a hurry she was in) She couldn’t decide if she was happy or scared about...

Personal – Thank You

Today 6 years ago I started dating the most incredibly handsome, kind, caring, funny and loyal man. When you start on an adventure there will always be ups and downs – that’s what makes it worth the ride. He has been there for me through the bad and helped me see the light and I have shared all my happy memories with him. When I decided to take the plunge in making a career change he gave me nothing but support and encouragement. You cant buy that at any shop and I am so lucky to have to you. I would like to publicly Thank You for everything especially for...

Personal – Love and Revolution | Melville

We were given an amazing book – “Spaces and Places Johannesburg”. It has all the great spots to see in JHB – restaurants, markets, parks etc. If you live in Johannesburg do yourself a favour and buy this book. Ross and I have decided we want to try do as many things as possible in this book. On Saturday we went to a a very quaint coffee shop on 7th Avenue – Melville called Love and Revolution. It had lovely coffee, a yummy squishy chocolate cake (as the owner called it) plus free Wi-Fi if you are interested. We then went to a tiny little organic market on top of...

Personal – Reflections in the Park | Delta Park

Yesterday Ross and I went for a walk in Delta Park (in case you haven’t noticed – I LOVE that park!) It was a beautiful evening – not a breath of wind. The lack of wind made beautiful reflections in the river. I found it quite funny how nature makes man made monstrosity’s looks pretty. Some of the photos hurt my brain as you don’t know which way is up?!   The mist as the sun goes down and the temperature drops...

Personal – The Fat Olive Market

Today we went to a new market in Muldersdrift area called The Fat Olive Market. It is held at the Fat Olive restaurant. There is a beautiful fountain in the courtyard of the restaurant and there are stalls all around this courtyard. There were a few stalls including Lime Green Bean and Balm Balm. They also sold the most amazing fresh bread (Thanks to Jenty for telling us about it :-)) – we bought the rosemary and coarse salt bread and have been eating it all day....

Personal – First Wedding Anniversary | Mpumalanga

On a one year wedding anniversary it is tradition to give a gift of Paper. There are so many things you can do for this. On the 1st of May – my husband and I celebrated our one year wedding anniversary. In celebration of this I decided to give Ross a paper themed breakfast. I got a lot of inspiration from this blog – The Pretty Blog posts. I added a newspaper – “The Yearly News” and made lots of paper hearts. We sat on the patio at Nwanakalile Lodge and had a good laugh and yummy breakfast. We have been spoilt rotten with the most beautiful books and paper gifts. Thank...

Personal – Anniversary Weekend | Mpumalanga

I have just had the most amazing weekend. My husband and I celebrate our one year wedding anniversary on the 1st of May. In light of this occasion we decided to take a trip to Mpumlanga and see my family for two days and then we headed off to Hazyview where we stayed at a wonderful self catering place called Nwanakalile Lodge. We decided to the tourist thing and we headed off to Bourke’s Luck Potholes near Graskop. This is a definite must see. These potholes are incredible – its amazing how one little stone going round and round in a circle can create these huge structures. We took a...

Personal – Constitutional Court | Johannesburg

Things to do, Johannesburg, Art Museum, Interesting Things, History, South Africa, Photos

Another really amazing thing to do in Johannesburg. Near city centre is Constitutional Hill where the old prison used to be in the Apartheid era, however it has now been converted into offices and the Court has had a facelift. The Constitutional Court is an incredible building in itself however inside this building is a phenomenal art collection of predominantly South African artists work. Its is so amazing to hear the stories associated with each piece from the famous Blue Dress to the Zapiro Cartoons. The tour of this art collection and beautiful building is for Free. Please go visit it and see the talent that our country has to offer....
